Analyzes and conducts sleep studies, in order to provide an accurate diagnosis for patients with sleep disorders. Follows strict safety and privacy protocols. Assists with patient needs and prepares equipment for each use.Job Requirements:Education and Work Experience:High School Education/GED or equivalent: RequiredAssociate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: PreferredTwo years' technical experience: PreferredOne year's sleep lab/EEG experience: PreferredExperience with EEG amplifiers and filters: PreferredLicenses/Certifications:Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT): RequiredCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: RequiredFacility Specific License/Certifications:AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS or AHA-CPR or ARC-CPR: RequiredEssential Functions:Verifies all prescribed orders. Clarifies orders as necessary using appropriate communication channels as authorized within scope of license or work permit. Operates equipment, sets up techniques, sterile procedure and supplies needed to perform various special procedures.Performs polysomnograms and titrations according to department protocol as authorized within the scope of license or work permit. Prepares and analyze readings for interpretation by a physician. Monitors patient respiration, heart and brain activity during procedure. Operates equipment to record sleep and awake physiology readings of patient. Orders supplies and maintains equipment.Completes appropriate paperwork. Files polysomnogram studies and reports.Evaluates the effectiveness of sleep test/interventions against expected outcomes. Uses assessment data to develop and document a sleep test plan. Educates and trains patients on the use of Home Sleep Testing (HST) equipment, as necessary. Supports and trains new employees.Verifies all prescribed orders.
